A friend gave the stave for this bow to me, unfortunately it was damaged from chain saw at several spots. So I could use only a little piece. It’s the first time for me using mock orange and I must say I’m impressed about this (bow-)wood.
As the usable portion was short, I decided to build a bendy handle bow. The reason for the semi HLD design is the diameter was about 2”, causing a high crown on the bows back.
The side profile is natural, only a little (dry heat) correction for string alignment was necessary.
The back is dyed with iron chloride, the darker spots are remaining cambium.
The groove at handle is upholstered with cork, the cord is twisted paper cord.
