Osage recurve deflex/reflex 47/27” (No. 108)

The stave was a nice clean piece of osage. Recurves are steamed in, deflex and sideway corrections are done with the heat gun. Overlays are a combo of black buffalo and mammoth, arrow pass is mammoth. The handle is bulbous with stingray leather wrap. Cross section is lenticular, fades with ridge. Very similar to bowRead more

Osage shorty d/r with short recurves 43/27” (No. 107)

The stave was short, but clean with little character and a hole in the upper limb. I tried to do a bit different tips than normal, in this case they are wide (limbs are almost parallel the whole length, taper just in depth). The short recurves are steamed in. The side view shows the deflexRead more

This bow was in the fuming pipe for about a week and the result was a very nice multi colored appearance. The early wood rings took much more of the fuming. At a specific light angle there is a wonderful 3d effect in the wood, looks like black / brown strokes are laying in aRead more

wide limbed BL from a board (No. 90)

This bow is my attempt at a bow trade at the Primitive Archer forum. I really felt honored being invited to take part at the „1. Annual Primitive Archer Invitational“. This bow is thought to be a hunting bow, and in a take down version. My thoughts about a bushbow are: not too long, dullRead more

Osage static, 55#/28″ (No. 47)

This bow is asymmetrical with a positive tiller of about 7 mm. Limbs are dead flat on belly, on the back a shallow crown. The fades are 6” long (widest part of limb – to handle). String groove filed into the levers. It was a nice clean stave, only two pin knots with no problems.Read more

Osage deflex reflex 46/28 (No. 44)

post image

This osage bow went out as a 70. birthday present for a friend. The osage was out of my dark fat stuff with orange stripes – my favorite kind of osage! It is a very beautiful piece of wood, a bit bumpy, a bit snakey and a hole makes a nice charakter. I had toRead more

osage bush bow 55#/28″ (No. 31)

This stave had a natural grown ‚knee‘ nearly in the middle with lots of curly grain (3 knots) in that area, therefore I decided to go for a stiff handle asymmetrical r/d bow with very short fades. The lower limb came out of the knee in a tangential way – I heated in the sameRead more
